I'm a 20-year-old Psychology student and I would love to spend my summer babysitting! While I feel comfortable babysitting children of all ages, I have the most experience with children ages 4-12. A few things that are important to me when it comes to child care are to limit screen time, get at least 30 mins of exercise each day, eat lots of nutritious foods, give academic/intellectual stimulation, and lots of talking! My favorite part of child care is connecting with the children and being their friend.

From the time I was 12, I have regularly babysat my brother (mild special needs) who is 6 years younger than I. I became an expert in changing diapers, preparing meals and giving baths, playing games with him, helping him with his challenges, and driving him to and from school, activities and play dates. Taking care of my brother introduced me to my love for child care and working with special needs children.

I began working as a paraprofessional for special needs children. For the past 5 years, I have worked with special needs children one-on-one alone and in group settings with 4-14 campers. I have experience caring for and working with children who have ADHD/ADD, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental and physical disabilities. I have worked with special needs children ranging from ages 3 to 21. I have helped them socialize with the other campers and participate in activities such as bead-making, Lego's, arts and crafts, board games, swimming, rope climbing, wall climbing, jungle gyms, sports, music, dancing and more!

In addition to my paraprofessional experience with special needs children, I also have experience working with many non-special needs children. I have worked as a daycare babysitter for 2 years for children ranging from in age 6 months to 12. I have experience playing with the children with toys, board games, bead making, Lego's, reading books and more. I also have experience changing diapers.

My current position at the summer camp is the Assistant Special Needs Director. I help supervise the paraprofessionals and work with the special needs children to ensure they are receiving the best care possible. To that end, a critical piece of fulfilling that role is having regular communication with parents to create a program that best meets their needs for a happy and healthy camper.

Previously (ended in August), I was an Overnight/Evening/Weekend Nanny for a professional couple and their twins (Boy & Girl). I have been with this family for approximately 3 1/2years. I left this family due to one of the parents (the mother), retiring and able to care for the children at home.
