I am currently a freshman in Aerospace Engineering at ISU and am looking for full-time employment as a childcare provider for this summer: May 6th to August 11th, 2012, in the Cedar Rapids area. I would be willing to do field trips, go swimming, (I am lifeguard certified), and will take care of any pets, as well. My preferred hours would be 8 a.m. -5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but that is very very flexible, as is my list of activities that I could do.

Beginning in August of 2009, I worked as a Swimming Instructor for kids whose ages ranged from 3 to 14. Keeping them smiling while swimming laps was tough, but it was well worth the effort when they left the pool happier than before. I also spent many weekends working at after hour events, supervising and entertaining large groups of kids as well as watching my neighbor's two boys when they were 3 and 11 years old.

I list my experience because I feel that the countless hours of teaching youth to swim have helped me develop an extreme amount of patience and understanding when dealing with kids that have so many different temperaments. I've learned to make the shy girls smile, and the rambunctious boys behave, with many parents personally thanking me for treating their children so well.

I think that I can provide excellent care for your children no matter how young or old they are or if they are boys or girls due to my experience at the Y and the way I was brought up. I enjoy engaging kids in fun activities just as I enjoyed them when I was younger. Whether it's reading, playing with constructive toys like Legos, or creating crafts to hang up, I love watching children smile as they discover new things that they can do all by themselves.

I have CPR & CT Childcare certification, am raising our son (8) with hub/dad & have a stepson (21). My boy, Nikolas, attends school FT (NMS). I drop him off around 8am & pick him up at B&G Club (exit 3) around 6-7pm. My husband, stepson & I share drop-off/pick-ups. I am an active mom in many Yahoo & MeetUp groups as well as very familiar with many free programs offered in our area by local libraries and such. I have a large, safe car and a clean driver’s license.
I do have some corporate experience (B. S. degree) too, along with a fitness background (pre-baby; was PT Personal Trainer & Fitness Teacher, still do Yoga). I'm well versed in reading with children, age appropriate games, know Wii and DS games, Baby Einstein, nursery rhymes, coloring, painting, arts & crafts, singing, dancing & love being outdoors as much as possible; walking, hiking, biking, swimming, skiing, sledding, rollerblading, etc. Also, I love animals (have a dog) & usually vice versa.
