Growing up in a home where my Mother held a Licensed Day Care for toddlers & Pre-School age children in our home for 18yrs, I learned from hands on experience how to understand and take care of small children. My Mother was a very well sought after Child Care Provider due to her advanced wisdom and organizational skills. She kept a lengthy waiting list through out those 18 years. I have also raised three children of my own successfully who were very close together in age. I know very well the extreme importance of not only understanding the physical and emotional needs of a small child but also keeping a very constant routine for them as well. This develops a very strong sense of security within the children. I taught all 3 of my children how to swim by the ages of 5, 7 & 8 and how to read by the age of 4. Children want to know what they can expect from day to day and especially if their needs will be met on time, such as; meals, naps, diaper changes, play activities on their interest levels, and of course unconditional love with understanding and fairness. When this is revealed to them consistently, they will always be happy and content. Children are very protective of the position their parents hold in their life not wanting anyone to come in to take their parents place. When I see these concerns within a child, I always assure the them that I am not a replacement of their parents but only a help and assistant to their parents to make sure all their needs are well met while their parents are away. I have always found that when all the above basic needs are met, the children's mind are more alert, ready & eager to learn new things by engaging in more creative play. I maintain a very calm and alert attitude at all times for the children to ensure their sense of security and safety. My goal is to make each day a day filled with good memories they can take with them into their adult life.
